It's April 18-20 and we'll have

News Update-September 15th
Seeing as I am the furthest thing from a webmaster you ever met, I somehow
let the news section of our website slip by, un-updated for about a year. Sweet.
I don't think writing about a year worth of activity is a reasonable goal but here
are some highlights...tour of Europe, tour of duty, tour of women's prisons, a
few nights behind bars we'd rather forget (but our parole officers just won't let
us), stealing boyfriends and girlfriends (don't worry, we gave 'em back when
we were done with them - so I guess I should say "borrowing"), and finishing our
new record, "Anabolically Correct." Yeah, we knew you'd love that title. Enough
to take a crisp ten spot out of your wallet and pick one up? We sure hope so.
Stay tuned for the what when where of our record release party. We're also
in the midst of shooting a video for "(I'm Gonna) Leave It Up To You." Think
"Barbarella" for the kids who grew up on crap like Saved By The Bell and 90210.
I think. We'll have a party for the video so stay tuned for that too. Ok, it's
Saturday night, what the hell am I doing on the computer? I gotta get all
gussied up and hit the town.
News Update-October 28th
Tis late right now, but I'm just so hopped up by the thought of our next show I can't sleep.
Sunday, November 19th at Magnetic Fields for Abbie's (our bass player) birthday! 6pm.
You can sleep straight through the daylight hours on Sunday (nothing good ever
happens during the daytime anyway) but still go to bed with a sense of
accomplishment Sunday night because you'll have witnessed the second coming
of rock n'roll. That's right, I said it. In addition to more rock n'roll that you can shake your
ass at, we Anabolics will be providing *real* birthday cake (meaning NOT Entenmans!) and
tons of deelish food. And save up your allowance so you can drink your weight in
booze with us and make sure Abbie has the best 18th birthday party ever. Don't
act like it'll be the first time you've corrupted a minor.
News Update-October 8th
It's Sunday afternoon and my brain is fried. Here's the deal: put a big red circle around
Sunday, November 19th in your calendar. Add a few hearts and stars and maybe a
smiley face if you like that sorta thing. Because that is Abbie's birthday. Abbie is
our new and fabulous bass player. In her honor, and in the name of rock n'roll, we will
be putting together a birthday rock n'roll party like you ain't never seen. We'll post
details soon but it will be a late afternoon thing, because we know Sunday nights are
tough. Food, booze, rock n'roll, a birthday, and chicks in hot pants. And fishnets.
Never before has so much awesomeness been crammed into a Sunday. Details soon
so check back, suckas!!
News Update-August 17th
Our only excuse for not updating our website since April (aside from being so many
light years behind this crazy internet web design stuff it takes us hours to write a mere
news item) is that we've been doing lots of rocking instead of sitting in front of a
computer all summer. Thank god. Good for the band, bad for the website. Lots of
exciting stuff in the works including one of our songs, "Everything Strays" being included
in the new film "Stanley Cuba"(!!!) It's coming out later this year and we'll be sure to
let you know about screenings. So we made it into a movie that's not porn which
is super cool and also very surprising. Our next gig is August 31st at Club Midway
which is the old Scenic with some fantabulous bands: Class, the Hate My Day Jobs,
and the Cummies. Mmmmmm. Stay tuned for tour dates in places outside NYC this Fall.
Okay, we gotta go now, "Goodfellas" is on TV.
News Update-April 8th
So it's looking like April and May will be chock full of Anabolics gigs...this Monday,
April 10th @ 10pm we're playing a FREE gig @ Cakeshop (152 Ludlow St.) as part of the
FREEdom Festival, presented by The Periodic Label. Big thanks to Kamara for
putting together what is going to be two days of kickass FREE music. But don't
worry, you'll be paying for it later. Actually, you won't. You will never pay. Anyway,
there are a bunch of awesome bands playing with us and a ton of other awesome
bands playing tomorrow (Sunday, April 9th) at Pianos, like Kickstart and Live Girls
and lots of others. We're also playing Sat., April 21st at Tommy's in Greenpoint with
Live Girls and Action Adventure as part of the Apeshit Fest. Yes, April is -fest month.
Then we have seven thousand gigs in May (read: four) which I won't wax philosophical
about here. They're on our shows page though. So go look there. And come to the
shows. All of them.
News Update-March 15
Check out the songs page! We just posted two new songs (Strychnine and Cum 6 To My 9)
that we recorded late last year at the infamous Bad Cat Studios in New Hampshire.
Don't look for it, it's not there anymore.* Big thanks to Nate and Joe for recording us,
and another big thanks to Stingray of Scotty Brooks Campaign and Man Without Plan
fame for helping us make some of the sweet riffs even sweeter and mixing the bastard.
We made him play hooky numerous times to finish it but in the end he was happy for the
break from work and we are damn happy with the songs.
*Come on, we know you've seen Spinal Tap. Seventeen times.
News Update-February 17
What's better than an open bar? An open bar on a Friday night.
And what's better than an open bar on a Friday night? An open bar
on a Friday night followed by the ass-shakin' tunes of The Anabolics.
And what's better than an open bar on a Friday night followed by the
ass-shakin' tunes of The Anabolics? Nothing. That's right, nothing.
Check out the show page for details. I'm sorry, I mean CHECK OUT
THE SHOW PAGE FOR DETAILS!
News Update-January 4
We don't remember a goddman thing that happened
in 2005--all we have to go on is a bastard love child,
three hot new recordings and a $340,000 bill from the W Hotel.
We're guessing it was a very good year.
We are told we managed to ring in the year in
true Anabolic fashion, sharing the
stage at the city's most rocking New Year's Eve
Partay with our dirty cousins Kickstart and
Live Girls!!!.
Thanks to Helen and Fletcher, Greenpoint's reining supracoolsters.
We're also tha-rilled to report that a few of our tunes are
being used in the feature film Stanley Cuba, coming
soon from Director Per Anderson and Openline Pictures.
Watch the
trailer,
which is set to our 2004 smash hit
"Everything Strays." Don't worry, we won't get all Hollywood
on you now. As long as you keep those late night visits coming.
News Update-November 6
When you've managed to burn your bridges with every
recording studio in NYC, there's only one place left
to go: New Hampshire, baby! It's not just that
rock n roll slogan on the license plate (LIVE FREE OR
DIE TRYIN), we relate to that
prim and proper facade they've got going on,
with all hot lava underneath. That's what we got, just
minus the facade.
So we let the concubines have the run of the penthouse for
the weekend and jetted up for four sizzling
days at BadCat Studios in Salem NH where we recorded
white hot versions of three new tunes with engineer
extraordinaires DJ L Joe and Nate the Snake HB Patwardan. Watch
this space for new MP3s as soon as we recover enough to
do some mixing.
Of course our debut album, "On Your Feet or On Your Knees" is
still available through
CD Baby.
Record purchase bring
everlasting good luck (in bed).
XXOO,
Anna, Abbie & Marcelo
